Show love at all times, Ayade enjoins Christians at Christmas
Cross River State governor, Senator Ben Ayade, has enjoined Christians to show love towards one another not only in this season of the Yuletide, but at all times.
The governor urged all Christian faithful to reflect on the import of Christmas brought about by the birth of the saviour, Jesus Christ and its redemptive hope to millions of Christians around the world.
In a goodwill message signed by his Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Linus Obogo, Governor Ayade urged Christians to use the opportunity of the celebration to rededicate themselves to the values of love, peace, sacrifice and tolerance as embodied in the birth of the Saviour, Jesus Christ.
According Governor Ayade, “Christmas underscores the redemptive role of Christ to mankind, just as it underpins the pivotal place of sacrifice, necessary for peaceful and harmonious world. So, as Christians, we must remind ourselves that love is the first requirement for a better and peaceful world.”
Governor Ayade maintained that the country was witnessing period when love was needed as a balm to heal and bind us as a people.
“We must be meek to one another, pull together and support one another. It is only that way that we can mend the chasm and build bridges of unity as a nation. This season of Christmas has afforded us a unique opportunity to achieve that,” he further enjoined.
Harping on compassion towards the less privileged, Governor Ayade admonished Christians to remember those who cannot afford to celebrate and to make conscious effort to reach out to them. “We should take time to ponder on the sufferings of the poor who are not privileged to celebrate. And which is why as Christians, we have an obligation to leave the comfort of our everyday life to help the poor among us, just as Christ did for us. Above all, let us reflect on the value of family, friendship and fellowship.”
