Your return to Senate our birthday gift to you, Bekwara monarchs tell Ayade
The campaign train of the All progressives Congress, APC in Cross River state Wednesday landed in Bekwara local government area of the state where various interest groups including monarchs, Youths, market women, religious leaders and non-indigenes took turns to endorse the governor, Professor (Senator) Ben Ayade‘s quest to return to the Senate.
At a consultative meeting the Governor held with monarchs and chiefs in the council area at the palace of the paramount Ruler of the Bekwara nation, His Royal Majesty, Chief Linus Ogbeche Odey (Ushie Ebeshe Ka’kpa ll), he was assured by the royal fathers that his return to the Senate will be their birthday gift to him.
March 2nd is the birthday of the Governor, who is the APC senatorial candidate for Cross River North Senatorial district. He was in the Senate between 2011 and 2015.
Speaking on behalf the monarchs, the Paramount Ruler told the governor, “I want to tell you that, for what you have done, we are with you and the other candidates. Your Excellency you are a son of the soil and we are with you, we want to assure you that our votes and your return to the senate will be our birthday gift to you.”
He commended Ayade’s achievements, especially in Bekwara, in the last eight years as governor.
According to him, “You are the governor that has come to Cross River State and given us physical industries in Bekwarra.
“Today we have Obudu- German Hospital, the British- Canadian University, the Airport and the greatest of them all, the agro industrialization that you have given us as a state.
“As a farmer myself and a celebrated farmer at that, l know what these industries will do for us”
Responding, Ayade told the monarchs that he and the other APC candidates were in politics to serve. He urged the monarchs to educate their people on the need to vote the right candidates, assuring that “the Bekwara nation will never regret voting APC from top to bottom because we are dedicated to the service of Cross River and Nigeria”
He reiterated his argument that it was the turn of Southern Cross River to produce the next governor of the state, the Northern and Central senatorial districts having had their turn.
The governor took the same message to the meeting with Bekwara critical stakeholders and at the rally ground.
According to him, “Bekwara is home because my grandmother is from here. I’m therefore home with my people and I have no doubt about their support.
“l ask for your votes for my own boss, the Jagaban, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, our presidential candidate. He has the capacity and competence to fix Nigeria the way he fixed Lagos.
“I ask for your votes for our gubernatorial candidate, Senator Bassey Otu.Equity, fairness and justice demand that Cross River South produces the next governor.
“Today l am Governor, if we do not stand with the South for Governor l will be the last Governor from the North, but God forbid.
“In 16 years time it will be our turn again. It is the turn by turn thing that made it possible for me to become Governor.
“All of us from the North must join hands and work with the people from the South and make sure the next governor comes from the south. That is how to maintain unity.
“Besides, Otu is a good man. He is qualified and ready for the job, he is competent, he has the experience”
Speaking further, the governor said: “I ask for your votes for your own son, Legor Idagbor for the House of Reps. He has performed exceedingly well and deserves to return”
I equally ask for your votes for another of your son, Hon.Eddy Ajang for the House of Assembly.
On their part, Senator Otu and Hon. Idegabor pledged purposeful leadership if elected and solicited for the people’s votes.
“I have the sagacity, humility, experience and cerebral ability to move this State forward.
“If we have our son Ayade, as not just in the Senate but as Senate President, my humble self as Governor, and Tinubu as President, the future will be bright for our dear state, Cross River”, Otu said.
To tackle youth unemployment, the APC governorship hopeful promised to make available soft loans to the youths for small-scale businesses if elected.
Hon. Ideagbor who represents Obudu/ Bekwara/ Obanliku federal constituency in the House of Representatives assured his people of continued quality representation.”
My score card is there for you all to see. My return to the House will guarantee more good tidings because giving you quality representation is my goal”, he stressed.
