Prominent Cross Riverians laud Ayade’s one year in office
Prominent Cross Riverians have commended the state governor, Senator Ben Ayade, for what they described as his unprecedented achievements in office in just one year.
In their separate commendations yesterday at a state banquet at the Calabar International Convention Centre (CICC), organised as part of activities marking the 2016 Democracy Day immediate past Minister of Culture, Tourism and Orientation, High Chief Edem Duke described Ayade an astute administrator, a transformer and a pillar of youth development.
“I listen to him tonight mentioning all the challenges he has faced and the successes he has accomplished, it is an inspiration not only to the younger ones, but also to the senior people who thought they could not achieve anything because of their circumstances,” Duke lauded.
Continuing the former Culture and Tourism Minister said: “I am positively impressed by the fact that here is a governor who rose to become an entrepreneur and an academic. He went into the senate and cut his political teeth at the highest level of legislator and yet after his first tenure, he had his vision crystal clear in his mind and sought for the position of a governor.
“And having achieved that position, he has thrown open what leadership can achieve in just one year and I am impressed.”
According to Duke, “Ayade is taking Cross River, a predominately civil service state to new heights by creating platforms for self-actualization. He is bringing new hope for the socio-economic development of the state.”
Duke said “It takes a man who is a bundle of energy, deep vision, courage and a man who can think through his own process and inspire others to follow him to achieve what he has achieve in so short a time.”
As if painting a portrait of Ayade, High Chief maintained: “For me, tonight is the opening of new widow, a new chapter into the mind set of Senator Prof. Ben Ayade and I am inspired. I can assure you that for me and people of my age, even beyond, we can see the hope that we can still conquer and follow a leader of this nature to expand the scope of achievements and render services to our people without thinking of our personal interest and profits.”
Similarly, former Military Administrator of Kwara State, Cornel Palm Ogar (rtd) said i“Governor Ayade has given a human face to leadership in Cross River State. He makes promises, keeps to them and sees that he implements what he says. We have seen it now.”
Continuing he said: “May 29, 2015, in this very hall, he stood on that podium and made promises that he will build a seaport in Bakassi, construct a 6-lane 260km superhighway that will serve as an evacuation corridor from Bakassi to northern part of the state enroute Benue State. All these are what he has shown us today, in fact more are on board according to what he has enunciated in his scorecard.
“The garment factory is completed and awaiting commissioning. This is a clear indication that Ayade is a man of his words. He does not just make promises but keeps to them, and that is what it takes to be a leader,” he testified.
