Gov Ayade takes the lead in refuse disposal in Calabar, urges patience
The state Governor, Senator Professor Ben Ayade, like Jesus, today took the lead in refuse disposal in Calabar as He was personally going round supervising the clearing and collection of Refuse.
It will be recalled that He promised to bring to a quick end, the challenge of refuse disposal currently being faced in Calabar. …
A statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Christian Ita, said the governor is aware of the discomfort the situation has caused residents of the capital city, and is therefore, determined to ensure that the heaps of refuse, which constitute health hazards, are cleared as quickly as possible.
While commending the people for their understanding, the governor urged them to remain patient as government revs up effort to ensure that the streets stay squeaky clean all the time.
“To ensure that this ugly situation is arrested quickly, the Governor is personally overseeing efforts to clean up the town. It is for this singular reason that His Excellency’s trip to Japan for a meeting with the Japanese Gas Company on a planned modular refinery for the state has been put off,” it stated.
It would be recalled that the Governor recently terminated the contract for refuse disposal in Calabar with PATSON and PACLISON for their inability to keep the city clean by failing to clear refuse dumps regularly.
He subsequently directed the Calabar Urban Development Authority ( CUDA) to take over the responsibility of refuse evacuation in the town.

It is good to have a governor who is an environmentalist.
