Democracy Day: Ayade employs another 1000 in garment factory
In the spirit of Democracy Day celebration, Cross River governor, Prof Ben Ayade, has announced the recruitment of additional 1000 jobs in the state Garment Factory.
The governor who disclosed this to newsmen, Monday, during the inspection of some ongoing projects in the state, said the gesture was a deliberate measure to put food on people’s table.
“We the government and people of Cross River State are declaring an additional recruitment of 1000 people into the feeding table. The 1000 people will be fully recruited, taken and absorbed by this garment factory,” Ayade intimated.
The governor had earlier announced that the sowing outfit will also produce uniforms for most of the primary schools located in the state capital.
Ayade’s declaration followed the raggy uniforms seen on display by the pupils on March past during the Children’s May Day celebration.
To this end, Ayade said: “Knowing the millions of children we have and the thousands of primary schools, it is certain that I definitely need to add more hands in this garment factory to have them run three full shifts to be able to provide the uniforms in keeping with my commitment and promise.”
The governor also added that expanding government will “reduce social tension to ensure that young people have jobs that will allow me to focus on decoupling Cross River from dependence on federal allocation.”
Despite having the most bloated government in Africa with over 4000 appointees with the lowest federal allocation in the country and yet embarking on gigantic projects, Ayade said: “It is not magic but intellectual engineering and managing everything in governance as if my life depends on it.”
Continuing, the governor explained that “my government is spiritual and not political and I don’t do anything with the expectation of political benefit, but looking unto God who sees my heart and my conscience.”
He further directed the Commissioner for Industries and the Special Assistant to fasttrack the recruitment process while ensuring that it is spread across the 18 local government areas of the state.
