C/R Partners Chinese Firm to Invest $8million in Feed Mill and Large Scale Maize Farming
Cross River State Governor, Senator (Prof) Ben Ayade in his resolve to totally eradicate hunger in the State has today collaborated with Wuhan Long Fecund Agriculture Development Company to invest $8million in large scale maize farming and feed mills in the State.
Speaking during a courtesy call to the Governor in his office, Mr. Youngsheng Cao, The President of Wuhan Long Fecund Agriculture Development Company, one of the largest maize farming companies in China, said, he was attracted to Cross River State because of its records as the most peaceful and hospitable state in country and the similarities in climate conditions which favours the cultivation of maize.
Cao further enumerated that they were in the State to partner with the Cross River State government to build a feed mill and embark on large scale maize farming. He said the project will be in three phases with a timeline of three to four years with the first phase being the construction of the feed mill and maize cultivation coming in a latter phase.
Responding, Governor Ayade praised Mr. Cao for his diligent and resourceful choice of picking Cross River State. He said Cross River is the most tolerable, hospitable and peaceful State in the country with the lowest crime rate according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics.
“In Cross River State, we have a saying that a visitor is King, so we give special preference to visitors” Ayade pointed out that Cross River is the largest State in the South-South with a landmass of over 20,000sq. ft.
The Governor noted that government has set aside three major locations in Akamkpa, Uyangha and Yala for the project but wants the feedmill and actual cultivation of maize farms to run simultaneously with a timeline of two years instead of the proposed four years and expects to see the first proceeds in about Six months
