Ayade signs pact with Indian, Chinese firms on power, cotton production
Cross River State Governor, Professor Ben Ayade has signed a pact with Skipper Seil of India for power generation.
The agreement is for the Indian firm to explore alternative and sustainable power to further transform the economy of Cross River state.
This development is coming at a time that construction work on a 21 megawatt power plant being built by the Ayade-yesterday administration in the state is nearing completion.
Located along Parliamentary Extension in Calabar Municipality, the plant is expected to become operational soon.
The governor also reached an agreement with a Chinese firm, for the provision of technical manpower for the cultivation of cotton.
It would be recalled that the state recently went into the cultivation of cotton in collaboration with Arewa Farms.
The cultivation of cotton is meant to ensure a backward Integration program for the Cross River State Garment Factory.
Meanwhile, the governor has also disclosed plans by his government to establish a vegetable oil factory in Bekwarra Local Government Area.
