Ayade: Praises, excitement as delisted Cross River workers get reabsorbed, receive October salaries
Respite has came the way of some workers of the Cross River State civil service whose names were delisted from the payroll last year on account of irregular entry into the service as they received their October salaries on Tuesday following their reabsorption.
Governor Ben Ayade had last month, while addressing the affected workers at the UJ Esuene stadium, Calabar, blamed some elements in the Cross River state Civil Service Commission for the illegal enlistment.
He however, promised to reabsorb them into the service after submitting themselves to verification.
“If you were the Governor of the State and you suddenly discover an additional 2,500 staff on your payroll that you did not authorize, that you did not know about, nobody consulted you, what will you do?
“The civil service commission did the employment without any single recourse to due process.
“Today we are standing here and I say let us do verification because we are humans, we still have conscience”, the governor had told the workers.
Meanwhile, the reabsorbed workers have have commended the governor for his love and magnanimity in restoring them to the payroll.
One of them, Mrs Joan Inaku said: “It has been a hectic 13 months but out of the blues I got my October salary and I am really excited. I want to thank his Excellency for his magnanimity”
On his part, Pastor John Agbor, a staff of Cross River State judiciary, could not hold back his excitement as he showered praises on Governor Ayade for keeping to his words.
” Wow! I am dancing right now in joy because I just got alert of my October salary. Thank you digital governor for remembering us again. This past 13 months have been more than difficult for me and my family but with this new development my family and I can now look forward to a beautiful end to the year. May God continue to bless and protect our Governor”, quipped Agbor.
