Ayade pays February salary on the 19
In keeping with his avowed promise and commitment to pay civil servants their monthly salaries promptly, the Cross River governor, Senator Ben Ayade, Friday, paid the February, 2016 salary to workers in the state.
It would be recalled that in December 2015, salary of the state workers was paid on the 15th of the month, and the January 2016 salary was equally paid on the same date.
This prompted some civil servants to suggest that the salary should be paid on the 25th of each month as promised by the governor and that the date of 15th was too early.
In hearkening to their suggestion, the Cross River Governor who is very sensitive to the needs of the workers and their families equally felt that jumping from 15th to 25th was going to have a negative effect on civil servants.
Based on this, February salary has been paid on the 19th with the hope that the shift will be gradual until the 25th payment date is restored.
On assumption of last year, Governor Ayade promised to pay the salary of workers between 25th and 26th of each month.
Lauding Governor Ayade’s early payment of salaries, the chairman, Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Mr. Paddy Ally said the governor’s ability to pay workers before the end of every month at a time most states find it difficult to pay salaries is no small feat.
According to him, “Cross Riverians are no fools. We know the difference between night and day; truth and falsehood. One way Governor Ayade will effortlessly hamstring the surreptitious evil plot of the “rebels” is to continue with his good works.
“A good striker is always an envy of the opponents in the field of play. Distraction is one of the strongest strategies of the foes. God and the good people of Cross River State shall vindicate the governor. ”
He urged him to remain steadfast and courageous.”
Also commending governor Ayade for his firm commitment to workers’ welfare in the state, Eyo Nsa, a staff of Calabar Urban Development Authority (CUDA) and Cecilia Eto, a teacher, who mirror the sentiment of workers in the state, said the governor is a great man and his welfares policy to workers is second to none.
They charged other governors to learn from Governor Ayade.
