Ayade Orders Immediate Payment of LG Workers’ Salaries

Cross River State governor, Professor Ben Ayade has issued an ultimatum to those saddled with the responsibility of payment of salaries to local government workers to ensure that the outstanding two months salaries are paid between today, September 7, 2016 and tomorrow, September 8, 2016 or face immediate sack.

The governor, in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Chief Press Secretary, blamed the delay in the payment of salaries to the local government workers on the on-going biometric exercise, which he decried has now dragged for too long.

“This biometric exercise has gone on for too long, on account of which the workers have had their salaries withheld. The workers have suffered enough and I cannot let this continue. I will rather pay a ghost worker than let the workers continue to suffer because of the exercise,” the statement quoted the governor.
