Ayade, Best Governor in Nigeria – Ntufam John Okon
Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State, Ntufam John Okon has described the governor of the State, Prof. Ben Ayade as the best governor in Nigeria.
The PDP Chairman who stated this in an exclusive chat with Newsmen in Calabar described Ayade as a visionary leader who cares about the welfare of the common man.
He said despite the current economic recession occasioned by the fall in oil price, the governor has not fallen short of expectations as he has consistently ensured that civil servants are paid as at when due.
Okon said “Ayade is one of the best governors in this country as far as welfare of citizens is concerned. He came in and made a commitment that every 25th he would pay salaries and he has kept that promise, despite the fall in oil price and the meagre allocation the state gets. Ayade is very passionate about the welfare of the common man and has severally demonstrated this through prompt payment of workers’ salaries.
“He did something extraordinary after the Christmas celebration, he orderd that salaries be paid to enable workers’ pay their children’s school fees. Very few governors can do that.
He said it was misleading for people to think that there was hunger and anger in the state.
“I am a pensioner and i have received my pension. The issue of retirees protesting over five year’s gratuity cannot be blamed on Ayade. It is close to nine months now since Ayade assumed office and he inherited some of these problems from the previous administration and when you inherit problems you must strategize and know how to solve those problems.
“Governance is a continuous process and i know these issues will be addressed. The same thing applies to the physically challenged persons who also protested. All these issues will be addressed”.
The PDP chairman however gave kudos to the governor for rehabilitating internal roads in Calabar metropolis and expressed optimism that the signature projects of the governor would be realized in o distant time.
“I know you are aware of the massive rehabilitation of internal roads in Calabar metropolis. Even the superhighway and the garment factory has commenced, so the future of Cross River State is very bright with Ayade on the saddle”
