Ayade Bags Chieftaincy Title

Senator Ben AyadeCross River State Traditional Rulers Council, Monday, conferred on Governor Ben Ayade the highest honorary chieftaincy title of Eto Nkori(Tree of Progress).

Conferring the title on Ayade at the traditional rulers council chamber with the Paramount rulers from the 18 Local government Areas in attendance, the Chairman of the State traditional rulers council and Paramount Ruler of Bakassi, Etinyin Etim Okon Edet, charged him not to shy away from the responsibilities that come with the title.

“You are indeed the tree of progress and we want to see the branches dropping all over the local government areas and most importantly, on the traditional rulers,” the TRC chairman remarked.

Acknowledging that Ayade had demonstrated sincerity and fairness in his avowed determination to govern the state, the royal father prayed that “this judgement will bring out your innate ability and potential to continuously serve Cross River.”

According to Etinyin Edet, “we wish you well and hope that unnecessary distractions will not come your way again,” adding that, “this judgement will make you sober and humble, for this is your chance and your time.”

Continuing, the monarch revealed that “the Almighty has been very gracious to you, that is why no weapon formed against you prosperd. That is why you are like Mount Zion that cannot be moved and when they gather because the gathering is not of the Lord, they scatter.”

Paramount Rulers of Bekwarra and Calabar Municipality ( Ushie Akpa Stephen Omang and Ndidem Patrick Oqua Agbor) in their various remarks, enjoined Governor Ayade to forgive his offenders as well as settle lingering issues that threaten the investiture of some paramount rulers in the state, for mutual peace in the areas.

Responding, Ayade lauded the traditional institution in the state for the honour done him, assuring that the gesture will accord him a great opportunity as a partner, friend and colleague in the chamber.

His words: “I have the responsibility within the morals and beacons of morality, good conscience and fear of God to sustain that credibility. I shall and I will.”

Urging the royal fathers to be patient with him, Eto Nkori Ayade, said: “Don’t even trust me because I will earn your trust, for in the fullness of time, you will see that whatever thing I have said will come to pass.”
